Carolina Semiatzh Brazilian

Carolina Semiatzh is a visual artist born in São Paulo, Brazil, currently living and working in São Paulo, Brazil. Her first solo exhibition took place in São Paulo, 2019.

After more than five years of living, working, producing, and studying in a graphic art studio in The Netherlands, her work and process test the complexity and limits of surfaces and materials, creating a dialogue between graphic techniques, such as metal engraving, woodcut, and chine collé with drawing and collage.

Pushing the limit between abstract and landscape, her work investigates how different beings, with different histories, can identify themselves differently in the same space.To what extent is perception, more than only a neutral contact with the landscape, also a product of our accumulated experience, a process of co-creation between nature and culture?

The search for ways of experimenting with techniques creates possible encounters of lines, areas, and happenings, proposing new possible territories and places.
